William Moreton

William Moreton (1641 –21 November 1715) was an English prelate in the Church of Ireland who served as the Bishop of Meath from 1705-1716.

Life

He was son of Edward Moreton, and graduated M.A. from Christ Church, Oxford in 1667, B.D. in 1674. He accompanied the Duke of Ormonde, the lord-lieutenant to Ireland as chaplain in 1677. He was dean of Christ Church, Dublin in 1677 and bishop of Kildare in 1682. He was and Irish privy councillorin 1682 and was translated to Meath in 1705.
